Professional Biography

Dr. Yousef Jasem is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Business Studies at the Arab Open University, Kuwait Branch. He holds a PhD in Economics and Finance from Brunel University London, United Kingdom. His academic work focuses on the fields of corporate governance, CEO characteristics, earnings management, accounting, and financial reporting. Dr. Jasem has developed strong expertise in empirical financial research and quantitative analysis, particularly using econometric methods to examine corporate behaviour in capital markets. In addition to his research interests, he is committed to promoting high standards of academic integrity, analytical thinking, and professional development among his students. His scholarly work contributes to contemporary debates in accounting and finance, particularly in relation to governance structures and financial transparency within listed companies.

Courses Taught

Dr. Yousef teaches a range of undergraduate modules in accounting, finance, and economics. His teaching areas include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Corporate Finance, Principles of Economics, and Business Finance. He adopts a student-centered approach to teaching, combining theoretical concepts with practical applications and real-world case studies to enhance students’ understanding of business environments. His lectures emphasize critical thinking, analytical skills, and ethical awareness in financial decision-making. In addition to lecturing, he supervises student research projects, evaluates coursework and examinations, and contributes to curriculum development and academic assessment within the faculty.

Professional Experience

Dr. Yousef has extensive academic experience in higher education, including lecturing, research supervision, and academic mentoring. Prior to his current appointment, he gained valuable teaching experience in accounting, finance, and economics at university level, where he was actively involved in delivering lectures, grading assessments, and supporting students’ academic development. He has also served as a tutor group representative and participated in academic administrative responsibilities such as curriculum coordination and academic advising. His professional background reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence, research productivity, and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning in higher education.

Dr. Yousef's research focuses primarily on corporate governance mechanisms, CEO characteristics, and earnings management in publicly listed companies. His scholarly work investigates how leadership traits, governance structures, and regulatory frameworks influence financial reporting quality and corporate performance.
