AOU organized a
lecture on "Opportunities and Challenges in Electronic Waste
Management" - Kuwait The Arab Open University, in collaboration with the
Kuwait Environmental Protection Society, hosted a lecture titled
"Opportunities and Challenges in Electronic Waste Management."
Presented by Engineer Janan Bahzad, the Secretary[1]General of the Kuwait
Environmental Protection and Wildlife Society. The lecture aimed to raise
awareness about environmental sustainability. She highlighted the growing
global issue of electronic waste, noting that 53.6 million tons were produced
in 2019 alone, with a 21% expected increase in the coming years. Additionally,
she pointed out the low recycling rate of only 17.4%, which poses significant
environmental and public health risks.
