New 'Library Guide' recently launched
The Open University (OU) Library recently launched the ‘Library Guide’, a new online tour of the digital Library service.
The Library Guide is aimed at anyone who is new to using the online Library and needs an overview of the services and resources and some hints on getting started.

The guide features an overview of the Library website and the wealth of resources available. There are suggestions about using the online library in your studies, a quick start section with some key resources to try, and some practical hints and tips.

A glossary has been included to help with unfamiliar words or phrases.
The guide also includes audio clips from OU students who share their experiences of using the online library.

You can access the Library Guide using the link below or by clicking the guide link in the 'Featured links' section of the website home page.

Library Services would really like to hear your comments about the new guide.

To send us your comments you can either use the feedback form on the Library website (link below) or email library-promotions@open.ac.uk

What does that mean?
At campus-based universities you can access information resources physically by visiting the library. The OU Library website provides information to you via the internet, acting as a gateway to a wide range of online information resources to support your studies and learning.

The resources include thousands of ejournals for accessing up-to-date articles in your subject area, or ebooks and databases for searching for the information you need.

New creative writing ejournal
Library Services now has online access to the journal 'New Writing: International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing' from 2004 onwards.

What is this guide for?
This guide has been written to introduce you to the Library website and help you navigate it in the way that suits you best. It will lay out the quickest routes to finding the information you need, explain how to carry out tasks such as using online resources or give advice about how to develop the skills you need to find and manage information.

You don't have to work your way through all of the sections - you can simply 'dip in' to the sections you need by selecting the section title from the guide home page. The guide will help you discover key areas of the Library website.

The AOU maintains a number of subscriptions to world-class digital libraries such as the Educational Resources Reference Centre (ERIC), Library Information Science and Technology Abstracts (LISTA), Google Scholar, and OAIster from the University of Michigan. These online resources are accessible to the AOU students through the Learning Management System (LMS). Your username is the same as your student ID. If you forgot your password, then use the service, which will send your password to the email address we have in your profile. If this doesn't work, then we need to update your profile. Send us an email to e-librarysupport@aou.edu.kw  with information that proves your identity such as copy of your ID card. Sometimes we may not be able to verify your identity and hence we require you present your ID to one of our staff in the nearest AOU center.
