Undergraduate Programmes
The Arab Open University (AOU) offers three programs co-awarded in collaboration with the United Kingdom Open University (UKOU). The program contents are licensed by the UKOU for the AOU use, accredited and validated by the Open University Validation Services (OUVS).
The AOU envisages the offering of a range of awards upon the successful completion of certain academic and practical training requirements. These include the following types of certification:
Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees each is worth 480 points, equivalent to a maximum of 131 semester credit hours.
The College of Business Administration, is considering a number of modifications comprising the following:
Splitting of large courses into smaller components.
Introduction of four additional pathways:
Introduction of intermediate exit awards of CertHE and DipHE within each of the above programmes.
Introduction of new intermediate awards of Certificate in Business Studies (CertBS) and Diploma in Business Studies (DipBS).
The College of Computer Studies, is also considering a number of modifications:
Splitting of large courses into smaller components.
Introduction of three additional pathways:
Successful students of the AOU, enrolled in these programs will also be awarded an equivalent bachelor degree by the UKOU, in addition to degrees awarded by the AOU. This is applicable to Information Technology, Business Administration, and English language degree awards.
Students wishing to enroll in an undergraduate program of study must have successfully completed high school that usually culminates in a state-sponsored general secondary school certificate. In addition, the AOU will consider for admission community college graduates with the privilege of earning some credits for the successful completion of certain appropriate courses at the community college level. The AOU will also consider students who have successfully completed "relevant" courses at a recognized institution of higher.
