AOU Mission
The mission of the AOU, as an Arab institution of higher education, guided by the following general goals and objectives:
As described below,the Arab Open University uses a particular model of open learning and aims through this medium to serve local and regional communities by providing high quality, flexible educational opportunities which meet the needs of individual students such as you and also satisfy local market requirements.
The AOU therefore adopts a set of objectives congruent with its mission. These include the following:
- Offering opportunities of quality higher education to a large and diverse population of students.
- Developing as a centre of excellence for open and distance education
- Providing a forum for continuing education across the region to meet the needs of individuals and local society.
- Providing opportunities for professional training in response to market demands.
- Providing special opportunities in higher education to disadvantaged groups of potential students ( e.g. females and those residing in remote areas).
- Participating, as a contributing partner, in promoting research and scholarly activities deemed useful in development areas of special concern to Arab society.
- Promoting humanistic and Islamic values and ethics.
